“Women’s Right to the Ballot”

The“Women’s Rights to the Ballot” speech, one of the first things she stated was that the people should rule all free governments. The government should not only be ruled by men alone, But also women. She stated that “All men, good and bad, black and white, corrupt, debased, treacherous, criminal, may vote and make our laws”, but women have no say in it. She argued that the colored man didn’t petition for the right to vote but “men forced the ballot unasked into their hands.” Then why must women sue and petition for her God-given right of self- government? That too, should have been given to women with no questions asked. Bloomer showed how women were treated unfairly and were not given the same opportunities in society just because of their sex. When women accomplish something worthy of praise, men usually respond by saying “What a pity she is not a boy.” She also tells the achievements of many women all around the world, to prove that they are just as capable of succeeding in life as men. Equality for women and their unalienable rights have been denied far too long, and this speech justifies why women deserve “the right to the ballot”.

Bloomer used many rhetorical terms in her speech. The message she wanted to send our in her speech was very clear; that women should get the vote, but they should also achieve equality and acceptance in society. She wanted all the citizens of the United States to hear that message, but she was obviously trying to target all the women of the world. The repetition of the statement, “women never have had equal rights”, occurred in this speech several times, trying to send out the message that women have never been treated fairly. Bloomer used parallelism in the phrase “all the people must be subject to the Constitution and laws, so all the people should be consulted in their formation; that is, all who are of sufficient age and discretion to express an intelligent opinion.” All the phrases begin with the same grammatical structure. In the speech, the following phrase is an example of a rhetorical question “And while all else is progressing to perfection, while the lowest may attain to the position of the highest and noblest in the land, shall woman alone remain stationary?” The answer to this question is already clear from the context, which is that women should not be kept from doing what they desire. “If one human being only claims that rights are unjustly withheld, such claim should receive the careful attention and consideration of this government and people.” This is an example of antithesis because of the strong contrast of the two words. Bloomer uses allusion when she made a reference to the Bible stating how they dared to do what was not thought of in the days of Moses and Abraham “How dare they set aside the commands of the Bible and the customs of all past ages and set up a government of their own?”

One of William Shakespeares most famous plays is Hamlet Prince of Denmark. This

play is an excellent example of an Elizabethan tragedy. I will prove this statement by confirming

that this play bears three characteristics of which an Elizabethan tragedy is made of. In the next three paragraphs I hope I can prove to you that this play is indeed an Elizabethan tragedy.

The first quality possessed by the play is that the Hero(Hamlet) is of noble birth. One very apparent proof of this is the title that is entitled Hamlet Prince of Denmark. Others are his father, the late King of Denmark, his uncle, Claudius the new King of Denmark and his mother, the ex-wife of Hamlet SR and Claudius.

The second characteristic is the protagonist is cursed by an ever so influential character flaw. Many people say it was his procrastination, but I think it was his hesitation. Hamlet did have good reasons for hesitating but I think there was a lot of subconscious reasoning behind it. He says himself thus conscience does make cowards of us all....is sicklied over with the pale cast of thought so to a large extent his problem was that he thought too much. He delayed not because he was procrastinating but because when you dont really want to do something you wait until the perfect time to do it.

The third and final Feature and probably the one that really make this play an Elizabethan tragedy is the Hero is defeated. Even though Hamlet succeeds in avenging his fathers death by killing his uncle Claudius. He is defeated in many ways. First his love dies not by murder but suicide and even though it is indirectly it is his fault and he knows it. Second he kills a good friend(Laertes) of his through rage. Third of all his mother, the only family he has left is killed be poison and dies before him. And finally he dies, and knowing he is dyeing his last words are O, I die, Horatio! The potent poison oercrows my spirit Act V, Scene II, lines 5-54.

As you can see through my examples and quotes the play Hamlet Prince of Denmark is an excellent example of one of Shakespeares most famous Elizabethan tragedies. We can all relate to this play because almost all of us have experienced a desire for revenge and always hesitated in getting it. Other great readings are Romeo and Juliet and MaccBeth.

Week #15 Final Exam

1. Success is the moral concept I have encountered in this course. I actually never realized what I have accomplished in my time in the military and the connections I have made. As I look back over the last 17 years, I realize that I am successful and have had a good life. I have the respect of peers, family and friends, even though there have been tough times and times away from home for long periods. All of this has made me a better person in the end and I continue to grow everyday as a human being. This will make me a better businessman in then future and a better leader and mentor today.

. For me the most challenging portion of the course was staying objective and trying to see all aspects of the subject. I tried to put myself in the shoes of others and see how they would handle certain situations or how they handle a certain problem and still try and remain ethical in the outcome. Seeing different angels and perspectives allows you to be a better mentor and boss to others and helps in earning their respect. I have always known that not everyone is as they see, but when you throw different aspects or situations at people and see how they react and handle it give you a different way of solving a problem. Not everyone will handle it the same way, not all ways will be correct. but through all of it you can formulate how you will handle it the next time leading you to the most efficient an correct answer to the situations.

. I believe morality has a place in business. There are still gentleman agreements out there, which have morality issues. You still have a basic do’s and don’t in business. It is just a matter of how ethical the person is, measuring those moral concepts. There is still no reason for lying, cheating and stealing in business, which is based on morality an ethic, both are very closely related.

4. To keep integrity, you first must have integrity. You must have self-respect, respect for your colleagues, and a society worth being proud of. You must be true to yourself and business partners, stand up and take responsibility for your actions, no matter what the outcome, be there for you fellow man/worker, and always be true, honest and remember people make mistakes.

Please note that this sample paper on ethics is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. An agency can be concluded either implicitly or expressly. In the absence of contractual provisions, the statutory provisions apply. The Principals interests are best served with an agreement in writing that, as far as possible and desired, opts out of statutory provisions.

It is possible that a court will infer an implicit agreement from a course of trading between two business partners. The statutory provisions that will apply if an implicit agreement is found primarily favor the interests of the agent.

Therefore, potential principals are well advised to avoid the circumstance in which a business relationship with a broker or commission agent can be construed as an agency agreement.

The Code of Obligations defines the agent as a person who contractually obliges itself, on a continuous basis and without being an employee, either (i) to act as an intermediary on behalf one or several principals in business transactions, or (ii) to conclude such transaction in their name and for their account.

An agent always performs his work independently. He is entitled to organise his work and to dispose of his time freely. Otherwise there is a risk that he may be qualified as an ordinary employee. Such is the case, if an agent acting exclusively under the principals supervision is too rigidly subjected to the principals directives, instructions ad control and therefore is lacking independence.

If a person or company acts as an independent intermediary, but on a case by case rather than a continuous basis, or if a person or company is charged to solicit, against a commission, an opportunity to enter into one specific deal only, such arrangement is not an agency relationship under the definition of this term in the Swiss Code of obligations, but a broker-dealer arrangement, governed by different legal concepts and legal entitlements (Code of Obligations 41 et seq)

For the agency agreements, the Code of Obligations is applicable (articles 418a to 418v).

Formalities

The agency agreement is, by law, not subject to any form and therefore, may be concluded orally. Due to the complexity of the relationship between the commercial agent and the principal, however, written contracts are recommended.

Exclusivity

Unless otherwise agreed upon, the commercial AA is not exclusive.

Commission

An agent is entitled to the agreed commission on all business transactions in which the agent acted as an intermediary or which were concluded during the term of the agency agreement. This does also include transactions not directly procured by the agent, but concluded by the principal with customers that the agent formerly solicited for such transactions, and follow-up orders of customers that were solicited by the agent during the term of his agency agreement.

Duration

Under to the principle of freedom of contract, the parties may freely negotiate the duration and renewal of agency agreements. Although Swiss law does not set specific upper limits for fixed-term agency agreements, an excessively long duration ( eg. Exclusive agency agreement exceeding ten years) overly restricts the personal freedom of either party and thus is void. Most courts are likely to treat exclusive agency agreements with excessively long fixed terms as indefinite term agreements subject to the ordinary termination rules.

Upon the expiration of contractually specified duration, the agreement automatically terminates. If, in site of the expiration of the fixed term, the relationship is tacitly continued by both parties, the agreement is deemed to be renewed. Thereby, the law expressly provides that a renewal shall be for the same period of time, but under no circumstances for longer than one year.

If the agreement does not specify a certain duration (indefinite agreement), and if this period cannot be deduced from the purpose of the agreement, it can be terminated by either party during the first ear of the contract period, with one months notice, the termination notice being effective at the end of the calendar month following the date of notice. An agreement of shorter notice must be in writing. Thereafter, the agreement can be terminated by giving two months prior notice, effective at the end of a calendar quarter. The parties can, however, agree upon longer periods and/or upon effective dates other than the end of a calendar quarter, but they cannot validly agree on any notice periods shorter than two months. Finally, the stipulation of different notice periods for the principal and the agent is prohibited in all cases.

Also, in all cases, both parties can immediately terminate an agreement for so called valid reasons (with cause). This provision is compulsory. The law defines valid reasons as circumstances under which a party invoking them can, in good faith, not be expected t continue the contract relationship. The existence of such circumstances depends heavily on the particularities of each case and is decided by the courts with wide discretion. However, the parties are free to expressly designate in their agreement certain circumstances as valid reasons. The right to terminate an agreement without notice for valid reasons must be exercised without delay, otherwise it is deemed to be forfeited.

Finally, the agency agreement terminates upon death or incapacity of the agent, or bankruptcy of the principal. The agency agreement terminates upon the death of a principal only if the contract was entered into essentially with regard to this principal.

Indemnification upon Termination

All claims of an agent for commissions or other compensation become due at the end of the agency relationship. Unless trade customs or an agreement on the contrary require otherwise, an agent has a claim for post-contractual commissions only on such orders which the principal received prior to the termination of the agency relationship, and only on transactions solicited by the agent during the agency relationship.

A commercial agent who, throughout his activity, substantially increased the principals clientele during the contract period, has an inalienable right to an adequate compensation (goodwill compensation) if the principal continues to substantially benefit from the established business relations even after the termination of the agency relationship. This compensation shall not exceed the amount of net earnings for one year derived from the contract, computed as the average of the last five years, or, if the relationship has not lasted that long, as the average of the total period. The compensation is lost if the agency relationship has terminated for a reason for which the agent is responsible.

MARKET FORMS

a) The market conditions necessary for perfect competition are as follows.

It must consist of many separate buyers and sellers. It needs producers who aim to maximize profits and consumers who aim to maximize satisfaction. Freedom of entry to and exit from the market, this means that there are no barriers to prevent new firms from opening up production in the market or laws or administrative arrangements which prevent businesses from closing down production or getting out a market. Perfect knowledge about prices, production options, what competitors are doing, market forces and so forth. Also, perfect mobility so that consumers can buy products from the best supplier without transportation costs or difficulties. Perfect divisibility is also important so consumers can buy exactly the quantity of the product they want. Lastly, product homogeneity (identical product) is a market condition that is necessary for perfect competition. This is where the output of one producer cannot be told from the output of other producer, so consumers are not able to show preference towards particular producers.

Perfect competition is the ideal market form that has the maximum amount of competition between firms. Firms involved in perfect competition usually face a perfectly elastic demand curve. For example, the producer for the Agricultural markets faces a perfectly elastic demand curve. (Refer to diagram below).

Cheap Custom Essays on market forms

essay writing service

If price is set above the demand, there will be no consumers. (No one will buy). If the price is set lower then demand, the business (agricultural markets) will no longer stay in existence. This is not ideal for the producers. Consumers will always buy at lower price. This is called rational behaviour.

An Oligopoly is a small number of firms competing (usually about -8) producing a similar product (usually not identical) and the actions of one firm cause a reaction from the competitors. Examples of Oligopolies are cigarette producers, supermarkets etc. These firms often avoid price competition. This is called a ‘price war’ as once one firm drops the price, the other competes by dropping their price and in the end, if the prices are so low, only the consumer benefits.

The ‘barriers of entry’ are market conditions necessary for Oligopoly. This makes it difficult for new firms to enter an industry. These barriers will tend to decrease competition and increase prices. This is an example of a whole list of barriers

§ High setup costseg airlines, BHP

§ Patents eg Copyright

§ Government legislation to retain monopolyeg Australia Post

§ Scale of production requiredeg car manufacturing

§ Access to infrastructureeg Telstra

§ Existing consumer/brand loyaltyeg Coca Cola

§ Secret ingredientseg KFC

§ Advertisingeg cars, home loans

§ Highly specialized employeeseg IT people

§ Multinational companieseg Holden, Coca Cola

Those firms involved in Oligopoly face a kinked demand curve. It may be kinked because it is formed by two parts of separate demand curves on different assumptions about the behaviour of rival firms to a price cut and a price rise. Above a certain price demand is elastic. Consumers will continue to buy from a given producer, even with a small variety in price. Below a certain price demand is very inelastic. Even large changes in price will see small changes in the quantity purchased.

The diagram below is an example of a kinked demand curve. (The existing price in a market).

The top curve shows that if one firm increases price, other firms will try to keep theirs down. Therefore the firm will lose sales to the firms that have cheaper prices. Looking at the bottom curve, if the firm drops prices, the others will to, which will result in them not being able to increase sales.

b) The advantages for firms under perfect competition are

§ Lower prices

§ Greater choice

§ Greater efficiency or productivity (output per unit of input)

§ Greater innovation

§ Total employment is greater

§ Better customer service

§ Producers do not become too politically powerful

§ Increased flexibility

Looking at the above diagram again and referring to what was explained about it in part a), it is logical to say that perfect competition is not ideal for producers. The loser in this case is the inefficient producer. Therefore, perfect competition is better suited to the consumers. Although, in different circumstances the winners from perfect competition can either be the consumers or the producers.

The disadvantages of perfect competition or “why oligopoly is good” are

§ Economies of scale are harder to achieve

§ Some industries are suited to a few large firms

§ Small firms find it difficult to compete with imports

§ The market is unpredictable, making planning difficult

§ Cost cutting way lead to undesirable actions

§ Unnecessary duplication or services

§ Small firms cannot afford exclusive research into new technology

§ Below is a diagram that shows economies of scale.

This diagram shows that the cost of production for the small firm producing the good is at a much higher price compared to the larger firm producing the good (at lower price). This is due to the fact that the larger firm has access to better resources and buying in bulk.

Therefore the winners in Oligopoly are the producers and the losers are the consumers. This is because consumers want competition, as it will give them greater choices and lower prices. Oligopoly has limited choice with rare price competition occurring.

After she was done talking to her dad she went to talk to her mother Patty told her the news then her mom complains about how Patty never dresses up or acts like a girl. Then the lady starts complaining about Ruth because she ordered all of some hamburger. She obviously did not care about anyone but herself. Then she ask Patty’s mom to fire her. But her mom told her that she did not do it on proposes.

On Sunday they went to her grandmother’s house. On the way there her dad complained about how her grand father didn’t give him a job at his real estate business. Then her mom told her not to accept any money from her grand parents. Then she asks what about the stuff she gets from them and what if Sharon got money was that ok? Then her mom explains about how the stuff she gets are gifts and Sharon is young so she can get money.

At her grand parents house nothing really happens but she dose get money for books and tells they will go shopping and spend the whole day together. After that family members get there they talk and then they all go home.

The next day some of the POWs came to the store to buy hats because they worked in the felids and it was really hot and they were getting burnt. One of them spoke English very clearly he came up to Patty and asked about pocket pencil sharpeners. She asked him what his name was he told her Fredrick Anton Rekier but his friends called him Anton.

She didn’t know him but she was in love with him. So she went to one of friends but she did nothing for her.

A week went by and she didn’t see him she often thought about going to the camp but she didn’t. However one day she saw a man running to catch a train. She ran as fast as she could to catch him and she did. That man turned out to be Anton. She told him she would keep him safe and feed him. They went back to the house and she put him in the rooms on top of her garage.

That night she tried to get him food and clothes but her dad awoke and he told her to go back to bed. The next morning she went out fed him and gave him clothes. Although she thought he was gone but she was still there.

Any ways Anton stayed a while and saved her when she got beat once. He ran out of his hiding place and saved her. Anton told her some interesting stuff like that her dads goes in the garage then cries and says no one loves him. Anton did leave though because he got found out. Before he left he gave her a kiss and his ring

When she was asked about the ring she said an old man gave it to her. No one believed her though.

The FBI talked to her and got her to confess the whole thing. They told her that Anton died. And she kind of went crazy for a night. Anyways she got sentenced to a reformatory school and then the book just ended.

I thought this was a very good book till the end because it just ended

Argue the point whether or not you believe that Sunny felt love for Dalton. Use examples from the story to support your decision.

What is love? What is needed to define love? Both of these questions have no definite answer; the answer is determined by the person who either feels or shows this emotion. In “Pagan Night,” we see a couple by the name of Sunny and Dalton. In this paper I will write to explain how much love Sunny in fact did have for Dalton. Sunny in the story must deal with numerous hardships, but tackled them head on to make sure Dalton remained happy.

“Pagan Night” uses the story of two young “rock stars” to show just how strong love is. The story begins with the birth of Sunny and Dalton’s son. This son throughout the story never receives a name. This shows how unprepared and neglectful the parents were. Shortly after the birth of their son their dreams of a rock and roll lifestyle came crashing down when the band split up. So Sunny and Dalton hit the road. They are quickly selling band equipment in exchange for drugs. Their lifestyle is changing ever so quickly and Dalton is continuously riddled with the sound of his son crying. Dalton is becoming stressed with the idea of having a son and the idea that he now has to provide for this other human being. But how, he can barely provide for himself. Their life has vastly changed over the past months and Dalton is struggling to accept all of this change. Sunny on the other hand is the strong willed one of the family. She is continuously trying to make ends meet and supply for the babies needs. But reality is quickly setting in that all of this may not be possible.

The family of three is now living in a van. They have no other place of shelter except for the old rugged van. Sunny tries to escape the van as much as possible, but as always is accompanied by the young child. Of course Dalton wants really nothing to do with his son. But he has been against his existence from his birth. This I believe is where you begin to see just how strong the love of Sunny is towards Dalton. Not only has she supported him in the past with all of his band activities but she is now taking care of the baby totally by herself, just so her husband will have no responsibility. Although this is not my definition of true love, this I believe is the only way that Sunny can show Dalton love.

Sunny does whatever needs to be done so that Dalton will feel no level of discomfort. Sunny must keep the baby silent at all times in fear that Dalton will leave her. This is another example of just how in love she is with her husband. She is willing to spend all of her days making sure Dalton is happy. This is definitely a great symbol of love. While walking around one day Sunny realizes just how much her life has changed over the past months and she is becoming increasingly worried and scared if she will really be able to take care of this child. Sunny has become concerned with her unstable life and is desperately in need of some balance in her life.

In search of food the family would take trips down to the Snake River where Dalton would fish for trout to feed the family that night. Luckily the child was still young enough to survive on breast milk so that was one less hassle the family faced. On their way to the river they would walk over railroad trestles and Sunny talks about how she can see through the trestles to crashing water below and she repeatedly drills Dalton about what they would do if a train would appear why they were on the trestles. He explains the whole situation and tells her that they would just step onto a metal overhang.

At this point in the story you start to Sunny becoming really frightened. She thinks the onset of winter ahead is going to do the family in for good. During these stressful times, it is calming to her to think of Marilyn Monroe. But her intense love for Dalton would show through again when Dalton senses her uneasiness and confronts her about it. But she would hide her uncertainty of the winter just so that Dalton would not become worried as well. Sunny is sacrificing so much for this relationship. She is taking on the burden of the child as well as the burden of grin and bearing every hardship that she encounters. She is doing all of this just so that Dalton may live a peaceful and relaxing life.

Towards the end of the story Sunny starts to become more and more stressed with the child. She contemplates different ideas on how maybe she could just “lose” her child. She debates leaving her son at the river or even goes as far as thinking maybe she could just drop him in the river. What an insane thought but it is the love for Dalton that is driving her to do all of this.

In this story it shows just how extreme one’s love can be for another. The love that Sunny feels for Dalton is so intense that she contemplates the death of her own child so that the couple may live a simpler life. This is love. No if, ands, or buts, the passion that was shown towards Dalton in this story was none other than love. This story establishes how vast love is and the extremes people will go to, to prove their love to one another.

Greater love, by Wilfred Owen and First Love, by John Clare are about two different kinds of love. First love reflects the shallow love felt by a naive teenager, while Greater Love takes love one step forward, turning it into a profound, powerful and complicated feeling in a warlike situation. While First Love is a typical, conventional love poem, Greater Love deals with unconventional love for men in battlefields.

First Love could be evaluated as a simple, inexperienced situation where the narrator falls in love for the first time. The quote

“With love so sudden and so sweet,” shows how many unknown emotions suddenly emerged into the narrator’s life, after he met his loved woman, and her face “bloomed” into his mind. It’s subject is very distinct to that of Owen’s poem Greater Love, which is mature, and subverts images of impeccable women to the grotesque images of soldiers dying in WW1. The quote

“O Love, your eyes lose lure. When I behold eyes blinded in my stead,” proves Owen’s point that the eyes of a women will never be beautiful as men’s eyes which were hideously blinded in war to defend their beloved nations. In Greater Love, the narrator says that men in the war suffer a lot more than men who suffer for women, for he compares pathetic love for women, to love for his fellow soldiers in WW1. However, the conventional images in Greater Love and First Love are similar.

Both poems have various thematic similarities. Both convey images of violence and gentleness ate the same time, using physical imagery such as blood, to explain their different ideas of love. In First Love, ideas of movement and paralysis are contrasted throughout the poem, with physical imagery and ideas of exciting emotions. These emotions which make the narrator feel overwhelmed by his lover make the ideas of movement and paralysis seem effective. In the quote

“My face turned pale as deadly pale. My legs refused to walk away,” the narrator is in a stationary situation, as if he had no life of his own. The succeeding quote

“My life and all seemed turned to clay,” is effective as it shows how humanity and life were being drained from the narrator by his lover, who stole his unknown emotions. It also has a religious sense, as of when Adam was made from clay, as if the narrator was going back to that stage. The idea of “deadly pale,” as well as other violent ideas are effective, because they express the intense revolution which was going on in the narrator’s mind, and how confused he probably felt. The quote in Greater Love

“Red lips are not so red. As the stained stones kissed by the English dead,” shows the contrast between a pleasant, conventional image of love, and a shocking, non-conventional idea of love as a woman’s whole lip is subverted to the hideous blood which remained from the courageous men who died in war. The delicate word “kissed” is also used aggressively. In Owen’s poem, love for his companions is shown, instead of love for his country, or women, as in First Love, and he subverts images of perfect women, such as “eyes,” or “pale skin, ”to distorted men dying. Similarly to First Love, no emotional images are used. The theme of “shame” is used in both poems, especially Greater Love. Owen attempts to transfer shame to his readers, and lovers reading his poem, for being futile and suffering for superficial love while soldiers suffer a lot more in war. Owen also pities himself for his experiences, and for not being able to love simple things anymore. With his repetition of negative words such as “lips are not so red,” he creates a negative response to our world of glamour and peace. A lot of embarrassment is shown in First Love, such as the quote

“My blood rushed to my face.” This quote creates an image of shame because it shows how the narrator was blushing for loving a woman, as well as an image of violent and gentleness. Greater Love shows no emotional distance towards the narrator’s companions, while First Love shows a emotional distance in the quote

“And when she looked, what could I ail?” This shows how the loved woman believed the narrator was sick, for she did not understand his appeal for love, and it shows emotional distance.

Both poems have a nostalgic tone, in a sense that in Greater Love, the narrator does not want the soldiers to die such as in the line

“for you may touch them not,” where he regrets not being able to be with the soldiers. In First Love, Clare misses being young and naive. At the start, Clare using a surprised tone with a lot of impact, especially with the word “struck,” which is effective as it means to hit, or realise. It is a monosyllabic word with a sharp, onomatopoeic effect due to it’s short vowel sound “uck”. The word “ne’er” is effective as it allows “struck” to take the line’s impact and it uses Archaic language to keep up with traditional poetry. In Greater Love, the tone mocks the idea of conventional love. Both poems get calm tones as they develop as in

“...you may weep..” has a much more gentle tone than the start of Greater Love, for it reaches a conclusion after putting Owen’s main point through about his peers. In the end, he feels defeated and upset, not angry. First Love also has development, for in the last quote

“My heart has left it’s dwelling place,” when Clare reaches an effective conclusion that he feels as if his heart was eternally stolen by his lover who drained away his emotions, for movement and paralysis terminates.

Greater Love and First Love both have regular rhyme schemes, and meter.

To conclude, the ends of both poems show the permanence of love, for the soldiers in the war will always remain in people’s memory as they grieve, and Clare’s heart will never return, he will eternally adore the woman mentioned in his poem. To emphasise my point, both the naive, conventional poem and the grotesque, unconventional poem have shocked me, for people can relate to them whether they are mature or unexperienced, going through first love, or superficial love.

Integrity

Integrity is most easily described as knowing the difference between right and wrong. Similar words to integrity are honesty, sincerity, and moral uprightness

Cheap University Papers on Integrity

essay writing service

Integrity is a life long skill that is learned when a person is very young. Parents think that integrity is the most important life skill a child will ever learn.

I think that integrity is important because people are going to judge you on decisions you make based on your level of integrity. The quality of your friends is also part of integrity because if you are honest youll have better friends that trust you and you will trust them.

If you have a job and your boss thinks that you have integrity then hell trust you with bigger responsibilities. You will make more money than someone who the boss does not trust. You could get raises for showing integrity in situations that might not be easy to use integrity in

An example of a person with integrity is if you are having trouble on your math test and you sit behind the smartest kid in class you choose to do the right thing and not look on his paper even though you might get a bad grade. It would be better to get a bad grade on the test that risk getting caught cheating. If you got caught cheating then they would have called your parents and given you a zero and that would be worse than any grade you could have gotten if you did the test yourself.

Another example of someone with integrity is if you went to the bank and the bank teller accidently gave you a couple extra dollars and you chose to do the right thing and take the money back and tell the bank teller about their mistake. If you made the wrong decision then the consequences would be worth having a couple extra dollars. You would have to live with the guilt. Keeping the extra money even though it is not your fault is just as bad as intentionally stealing. Integrity is doing the right thing even when the wrong thing seems easier like if you needed the extra money from the bank because you didnt have enough money to feed your kids or pay the bills. You would be showing a great deal of integrity in this situation. You would feel a lot better about the decision to take the money back.

The consequences for not using integrity are not worth anything youd get from choosing to cheat like getting a higher score on your math test would not be worth the guilt you would feel from choosing to cheat. You would not feel like you earned the grade and you still wouldnt know how to do the math.

From now on I will use integrity in every day decisions so I can become a better and more honest person. I will choose right over wrong to help make the world a better place.

Bruce Dawe was born in 10, in Victoria. He grew up to be Australia’s best selling and most popular poet. His successful poetry book ‘Sometimes gladness’ sold over 100,000 copies since its initial publication. Quite a lot of Dawe’s poems express and analyze consumerism. Consumerism is present in the three poems ‘Enter without so much as knocking’, ‘Televistas’ and ‘Breakthrough’

In the poem ‘Enter without so much as knocking’ consumerism is a major issue throughout the text. The poem introduces a newly born child into the world. The poem states “…and he was really lucky because it didn’t mean a thing to him then…” (p14) a child is so innocent, so unaware of the consumerism in the world around them. At first they are unaffected. Not noticing anything material, a child does not get involved in the obsession of owning and purchasing.

As a child grows up they are introduced to consumerism, being brought up around it often makes consumerism seem normal to be all around you. The more they observe the more they adapt. Finally when they have witnessed consumerism to an extent they themselves turn out to be “… like every other godless money-hungry back-stabbing miserable so-and-so…” (p15) someone that when they die nobody misses them, nobody cares.

Aviation-Aerodynamics Lesson II

Lift equals weight

Thrust equals drag

Accelerate thrust exceeds drag

Do my essay on Avition Notes CHEAP !

essay writing service

Decelerate drag exceeds thrust

Upper camber larger then lower camber

You can fly an airplane backwards

Motion of the air is the thing that affects plane not land

Relative wind is equal and opposite the flight path

Flight path is the aircraft moving direction

Angle of Attack = Chord Line and relative wind

Chord Line goes from the leading edge to trailing edge

That creates the angle of attack

The air is deflected slightly upward over leading edge and slightly downward after the trailing edge

This creating upwash and downwash respectively

The Leading edge of a wing slightly upwards due to the rest of the aircraft called Angle of Incidence

It’s the chord line and the Longitudeanol Axis

LIFT

Provides the upward force which sustains the aircraft in flight

Creation of lift is Bernoulli’s Principle-As the velocity of a fluid increases the pressure of that fluid decreases

Wing produces the Bernoulli effect on the air, a constriction on the air. Slide 10

High pressure lifts the plane off the ground

Newton’s rd law

“To every force in nature there is a corresponding reaction force.”

A portion of the airflow hits bottom of wing and deflects it upward.

The downwash reaction force also deflects wing upward

FACTORS AFFECTING LIFT

PLANFORM

Winspan/average chord = Aspect Ratio

Shape of wing elliptical, tapered, rectangle, delta, swept back

Elliptical is most efficient at slow speeds

CAMBER

Asymmetrical=Top and Bottom halves don’t match up Lower performance aircraft needed to help create lift

Symmetrical-high performance aircraft like military jets because of large force of thrust.

AIR DENSITY

As air density decreases lift decreases. (Cold air has higher density than warm air)

AIRFOIL VELOCITY

As velocity decreases lift decreases.

PITCH

Controls angle of Attack (Pitch Up) that increases lift

SLIDE 17 PILOT SLOWING AIRCRAFT DOWN, WE POWER BACK, DRAG NOW EXCEEDS THRUST AND BEGINS SLOWING US DOWN, WHICH RESULTS IN LESS AIRFLOW OF WING, NOW WEIGHT IS GREATER THEN LIFT, in order to hold altitude we need lift to equal weight, TO INCREASE LIFT WE PITCH AIRCRAFT UP AND INCREASE ANGLE OF ATTACK TO INCREASE LIFT = TO WEIGHT SO WE HAVE A HIGHER ANGLE OF ATTACK, SLOWER AIRSPEED BUT CONTINUE TO FLY LEVEL

FLAPS

Aerodynamics of Flaps

Extension of flaps increases the relative camber of the wing

Change in Angle of Attack

Change of Lift-increase

Change of Drag-increase

Allow us to descend without accelerating NOT A SPEEDBRAKE

DON’T SLOW DOWN, INCREASE CONTROL AT SLOW SPEED

Bringing flap down changes Chord Line(no longer directly down center of wing) Angle of attack also changes

TYPES OF FLAPS

MOST COMMON IS = PLAIN FLAP

SPLIT FLAP=ONLY LOWER CAMBER MOVES-LEAST AMOUNT OF AFFECT ON AN AIRCRAFT OF ANY FLAP

SLOTTED FLAP = CREATES OPEN SPACE B/W WING AND FLAP ITSELF

FOWLER FLAP=MOST EFFIECIANT-INCREASES SIZE OF WING

Uses

Takeoffs-allows airborne sooner, less groundroll

Landing-allows for increase decent angle, flown at slower speeds, decreases ground roll

STALLS

Angle of Attack creates to much lift where you can no longer have an effiecient amount of lift from your wing-always occurs at critical angle of attack

It will always STALL AT CRITICAL ANGLE OF ATTACK

Situation where airflow over the wing, which is typically smooth, becomes turbulent and separates from the wing

Stalls start at wing edge against the fuselage of the aircraft

Outer edge of wing has less angle of attack

Design allows to keep control of airelons that let us keep contol

V-speed is the average speed that aircraft will stall at standard day. Warrior is 44 knots

Dirty aircraft stall sooner

LIFT AND WEIGHT MUST BE BALANCED TO MAINTAIN FLIGHT

Less angle of attack will stall at slower speed then one w/ same airspeed but higher angle of weight

TAIL DOWN FORCE

Stops the down pitch and balances the center of gravity

FLAPS AND ANGLE OF BANK DO AFFECT STALL ANGLES

BIGGER PITCH CHANGE ON A FULL THROTTLE STALL THEN ON A POWER OFF STALL

STALL WARNINGS

LOSS OF CONTROL EFFECTIVENESS

BUFFETIN OF AIRFRAME

STALL WARNING HORN

Recovering from stalls

Power up

Pitch down

Apply full power

Regain normal flight

Flaps 5 degrees if fully extended

Accelerate to Vx or Vy

Retract Flaps fully

Resume cruise Flight

LESSON THREE

DRAG

Drag is the resistence created by the air.

Types

Parasite Drag

Skin Friction-result of the surface aircraft being rough

Form Drag-result of objects general shape

Interference Drag-result of the interaction of airflow from joined components of the airframe

Induced Drag-drag associated with the production of lift.

IN SLOW FLIGHT RELATIVE WIND IS MOST PROMINENT IN HIGH ANGLES OF ATTACK

Slide 11 is an aircraft holding altitude

Slow flight we fly backside of power curve

THRUST IS FORCE CREATD BY PROP TO MOVE AIRCRAFT FORWARD

WEIGHT IS A FORCE RESULTING FROM GRAVITY

Italy a Forgotten Market

With a large population of over 57 million Italy is an untapped market that on its own is having trouble suppling enough food to feed the consumers. Italian consumers have found it acceptable to eat non-traditional foods, which indicates the need for imported food items. Therefore, exporting food items to Italy from the United States has become a very lucrative business. One of the emerging trends in Italy is prepared foods and ready to eat snacks. The traditional meals have been disappearing from the tables and being replaced with many types of frozen foods that can be purchased in some of the large supermarket chains throughout Italy.

With the economy increasing year after year in Italy more families have found it easier and cheaper to buy the non-traditional meals for consumption. Also, the patterns indicate more active life styles and the ability to eat snacks along with the lack of home cooked meals. Market trends indicate that the consumers of the imported products are becoming not only the younger generation but the more established generation as well.

Even though Italy has problems attracting foreign investment, the country does provide ample opportunities for investment. The governmental requirements can be a burden at times, but the government will work with foreign investors by providing some assistance in dealing with the various, and sometimes confusing, regulations. Europe was not been one of the markets that has seen must globalization in business for a while. Many United States companies have look at other parts of the world in order to grab the market edge. With this the stable eastern European countries have experienced a decrease in new foreign companies showing an interest in developing on emerging markets in their region. The surrounding areas in Europe have become quite stable since the years of World War II. They have a moderate economy to support the emerging of a new product with in them. However, in contract many of the surrounding nations still have held onto their own customs and traditions of doing thing.

Italy has had an account surplus since 1. However, in 1 the surplus reached 6.4 billion, which was down from the surplus, amount of 1.8 billion in 18. Over the last three years the surplus has been decreasing but the national debt has also been decreasing, as the government is highly concentrated on reducing the debt. The Italian government has sold off some companies, which is also a factor in the depleting surplus.

Italy inflation has been slowed recently but still remains sixth in the world in the Industrial Economy. The factor that is responsible for the decline to inflation is the decrease in exports and the increase in imports. Italy is still within the norms indicated by the (EMU) which is an amazing achievement for this historical inflation prone country. The inflation rate for Italy has been consistently around % for 7,8 and . As the price of oil has increased over the past two years it is projected that the inflation rate for 00 will be right around %. A major contributor to the inflation rate going up is the wage pact that was signed in 1 and renewed in 18 and runs through 00. The pact has created a cost cut in labor and includes incentives for investments and other working training activities.

Currently Italy has no restrictions on the amount of foreign exchange brought into the country via checks, currency. Just like almost every country the amount of money brought into the country and declared may be re-exported. The Italian exchange regulations are issued by the Italian Exchange Office under the authority of the ministry of Foreign Trade. (U.S. Department of State, pg. 86) The Bank of Italy is the main bank to handle Foreign exchange problems. The growth rate in Italy is very slow but the country still needs to import many food items in order to feed the population of 57 million. Italy has the GDP of approximately .8 to %. U.S. firms exporting to Italy are confronted with both national and EU standards for many products. Further, these regulations occasionally change to meet new technology and more stringent demands. (Trade Regulations) Additionally, as part of the unification program to establish common standards for all member countries, certain products are being regulated by the EU. Mandatory requirements to protect the health of consumers are constantly being developed and implemented. Italy, as a member of the EU, applies the products standards and certification, but there is frequently a long lag in implementing these directives at a national level.

Another issue for all products that are exported to Italy and other countries in the EU are labeling requirements for all products. To indicate conformance to the mandatory EU requirements, a CE mark must be placed on all regulated products by the manufacturer or a representative before they can be sold on the EU market. Also, according to the State Department, imports of certain commodities, including packaged foods, are subject to special regulations regarding the manner in which they must be labeled to show manufacturer, composition, content (in metric units), and country of origin. (Trade Regulations)

In addition to the regular customs duties that accompany all exports, there is also a value-added tax (VAT) and/or excise tax on products from countries outside of the EU. Generally, businesses can expect anywhere from a 4% VAT for basic goods, such as bread and fruits, to a 0% VAT. For the packaged foods that Stouffers intends on exporting to Italy, a 10-0% VAT may be expected.

According to the last census, on July 18, the population of Italy was estimated at 56,78,748. This increase stemmed from natural growth in which the birth rate was higher than the death rate. Census shows that 51.4 percent of the total population is female and 48.6 percent is male. 14 percent of the population are 0-14 years old, 68 percent is 15-64 years old, 18 percent are 65 years or over. (Kindersley)

The ethnic groups that make up the population of Italy consist Italian (including small clusters of German-, French-, and Slovene-Italians in the north an Albanian-Italians and Greek-Italians in the south). (Kendersley)

The job market in Italy is not very dynamic. Which is the reason why many Italians have left the country to find jobs abroad. Italy has one of the lowest employment rates in the European Union, although Italy is one of one of the most industrialized and prosperous countries in the world. Northern Italy has some of the wealthiest regions of Europe, although Southern Italy is lagging behind. One of the reasons why in Italy its difficult to get a job is due to the countrys long tradition of nepotism, which is widespread and permeates deeply almost every field, public and private.

After many years employment in Italy finally recorded a sizable increase between 17 and 18 it grew by 8,000 and further expectations of growth were forecast for 1, together with a downward trend on the number of job seekers. Although employment increased by 1.1% in 17-8, GDP grew in the same period by a mere 1.%. An analysis done in 17 of the type of employment breakdown shows that, out of 8,000 new jobs, 10,000 were full-time and 10,000 part-time, i.e. +0.6% (full time) and +8.7% (part time) compared to the previous year. Also, 177,000 new recruits were salaried workers - 54,000 with open-term contracts and 8,000 with fixed-term. In two years, the increase was of 0.04%. New self-employed people or entrepreneurs numbered 51,000.

In the 0s the different types of workers in Italy underwent some change and is likely to change further in the future towards a gradual increase in high-profile skills. Compared to other industrialized countries, this process is still rather limited, largely due to a slowly developing service sector, which is where well-qualified workers should find employment.

Stouffers has many competitors within the frozen food industry. We will be competing with not only the US industries but also the local market and fresh food products provided to the public. Stouffers has a strong financial backing from its owner Nestle. Italy now has major supermarkets, which welcome imported foods that seem to be in demand in Northern Italy. Stouffers will share the market with most of the other brands that have started to establish themselves in Italy. We will not depend on the Nestle name that has already been established in Italy. Instead we will introduce the subdivision of Nestle called Stouffers into the market. There is a large portion of the market that still is undiscovered by the food companies and Stouffers will capitalize on this frozen food market. In order to place a food product inside of the Italian supermarkets you must obtain acceptance at Foreign Trade shows. During the conventions numerous companies will be competing against each other to try and get the Italian supermarkets to purchase their individual products. Another option for Stouffers is to introduce the frozen food products to the younger generations through MTV International along with concert and sporting event promotions. It would be feasible to tap into the interest of the 64 percent of the population of 18-64 year olds in the advertising campaigns. Once the product is accepted into the supermarkets then we will discuss the packaging, displays, coupons and contests that you can win by purchasing the frozen food products.

Conclusion

In conclusion Eastern European countries although vastly different culture have economic stability in common. For the frozen food market to be tapped into there are many factors that where considered above. One of the main factures in the age demographics and the changing lifestyle of the people of Italy. They have become more Americanized by way of a faster paced lifestyle.
